Industrial Changes in the Study Area
The data from the 2010 and 2000 Census Summary files, show very little change in the overall composition of industry within the study area over the last ten years. With gentrification, one would expect to see a significant decrease in working class, manufacturing industry. The results, however, indicate that manufacturing has actually increased slightly in the area. For the most part, the evidence (shown in the figures below) suggests very little change in the industrial composition of the study area. According to Marcuse's definition of gentrification, one would expect to find a transition to professional, quaternary industries from working class, primary industries.
