Weekly Reading Discussions
For the first eight weeks of the class, students were required to read all the articles below. While all the articles were discussed, individual students had to be "a discussion leader" for a particular article. Discussion leaders presented the main points of the article and offered questions to spark discussion among the rest of the class. The remaining students were required to write a one to two page response about one of the articles read for each particular week. All students critically analyzed each of the articles identifying main points of discussion, strengths and weaknesses, as well as what school of geographic thought each article best fit. Many of these articles provide background information as they began to think about their final projects.
