Field Trip IntroductionIn the spring of 2012, ten students and two professors left Eau Claire, Wisconsin and embarked on an urban geography field seminar to New York City. The themes of this educational endeavor included place-based identity, history and memory, agglomerative economic activities, gentrification, design and use of public space, politics, food systems and transportation logistics. During our week in the Big Apple from March 17th-24th, we journeyed to all five boroughs, indulged in an array of ethnic cuisines, navigated the subways like a boss and experienced the ethnic and cultural diversity of the largest city in the United States. This website accounts our eight day field seminar in New York City.
