Demographic Analysis
Given the inequities of racial earnings in the United States, gentrification often has the potential to displace particular ethnicities; therefore, one might expect to find a change in the racial composition of the neighborhoods surrounding the High Line. Overall, though, the data from the 2010 Census Summary File and 2000 Census Summary file shows that the study area's ethnic composition has remained relatively constant over the last decade. In the figures blow, the pie charts and column graphs show almost now noteworthy changes in the ethnic demographics. Thus, there is no ethnic evidence to support post High Line gentrification.
